Regardless of if you are trying get a swing set in your local park, wheelchair access on your high street, or an end to systematic discrimination, you need someone who can both keep you motivated and have your back.
It wasn’t my choice to make self advocacy a way of life, but now I am choosing to help others learn what I have tackled as a direct result of those conflicts.
From holding big companies like British Airways’ and South Eastern Railway’s feet to the fire, to being a Spokesperson for the UK’s Women’s Equality Party, I know how to systematically make change happen, but also how pursuing a better world can not only break your heart, but also be emotionally exhausting.
Very often people who either don’t want to change themselves or are afraid to see change happen will fall back on the same boring tricks, games, and other forms of emotional manipulation, to throw you off course.
For someone who is compassionate, loving and tries to avoid conflict, these methods are more successful than a military
Lest you think I’m some sort of social justice warrior, I’ve had my heart broken when institutions and people would rather attack me than see their own systematic discrimination, I’ve been called a “disappointment” by my alma mater Davidson College as well as a good many harsher things behind closed doors.
I’ve struggled with depression as a direct result of horrible personal attacks.
These things hurt. Pursuing change means initiating conflict. Conflict can end relationships.
Changing your world can be devastating. It’s not up to you to brush it off.
I’m here to put in absolute real terms how injustice is perpetuated by day to day complicity and the toll that systematic injustice can take on your heart.
I want to be your cheerleader as you take the next step toward changing your world.
And I will be your super sleuth in helping you scope out the power dynamics in your community, because once you figure out who is really standing in your way, making change happen can look a whole lot different.
I believe in the power of individuals. I believe that YOUR heart, mind, and spirit is enough to radically change the way things are. These elements of you are the most precious resource we have.
I believe that any person who will change this world for the better needs to be protected.
